This week I finally had the perfect excuse to check out CLE Urban Winery in Cleveland Heights. My friends over at the Cleveland Jewish News held their JStyle Spring Premiere party there on Wednesday, at it was a hit! Now that lent is over, it is nice to be able to enjoy a drink at networking and social events like this again.
CLE Urban Winery is located in the Cedar-Lee business district in Cleveland Heights. From there, you can walk to several other restaurants and bars, including Lopez, Anatolia, The Wine Spot, and more.
The winery is appropriately named; exposed brick and concrete flooring give this winery a distinct urban feel. As a very unsophisticated wine drinker, I appreciated CLE Urban Winery's casual, comfortable atmosphere. It is not pretentious like other wineries. It is the perfect spot to grab a glass or two of wine after work if you live in the area. I had a glass of the Hometown Heroes Peach Chardonnay-- it was very sweet, which I personally enjoy. I also sampled the Edgewater Blackberry Merlot, another sweet wine. I wound up buying a bottle to take home for another time.
Another thing I appreciate about CLE Urban Winery is their community involvement. I briefly spoke with the owner, Destiny, and she expressed how passionate she is that the winery be a community gathering place. She truly embodies the spirit of a Clevelander-- so supportive and willing to give back. If you have a fundraiser or event and would like to host it in a fun, hip environment, check out CLE Urban Winery! It was a great venue for the JStyle event that I attended.
