For The Bar League's 19th bar adventure, we headed back to Tremont to hit up The Treehouse. If you've gone out in Tremont before, you've likely been to this popular place. The patio is packed all summer and fall, especially after "Cleveland Plays" touch football games, where you'll find teammates gathering over pitchers of Bud Light all morning and afternoon. Stop in on a Saturday night, and you'll likely find the bar packed with young professionals til 2am.
As usual, we went out on Wednesday after work. The bar had a decent happy hour crowd, and actually got more crowded the later the night got. By 10pm, every table was full and there was a handful of people seated at the bar. We intended to sit on the patio, despite the ninety degree heat, but to our disappointment most of the patio was closed. Only a few small tables were available. We knew we'd have a bigger group, so we just stationed ourselves near the bar.
As you'd expect, trees are the theme at The Treehouse. A large tree is at the center of the bar, surrounded by bottles of liquor, beer taps, and a few dozen barstools. The tables by the bar are old tree stumps. Whoever designed this place managed to stick to a theme without making it cheesy-- it's memorable, unique, and gives this bar distinct character amongst dozens of other bars and restaurants nearby.
The atmosphere alone at The Treehouse was enough to lure me in, but having some great Happy Hour specials certainly didn't hurt. Happy Hour went until 7pm and included $1.50 off draft beer & $1 off cocktails, wine, and bottled beer. On top of that, Miller Lite drafts were $2 all night, and tacos were 2 for $5. After Happy Hour ended, I was able to use the CLEseats app to save 20% off my bill, including alcohol. These specials kept our crew out later than usual for a Wednesday night-- why not?!
The Treehouse had a nice drink selection, with a few dozen beers on tap. Something that caught our attention was the container of pineapple stationed behind the bar. Patrick asked the bartender about them, and she let him know that "they don't taste like pineapple." He ordered one for the table, and the look on everyone's faces proved that she was right-- they may look like pineapple, but taste like straight vodka!
The Treehouse is open 365 days a year... pick one of those days to pop over there and enjoy a pint! Cheers!
