If you live in Cleveland you've surely heard of Happy Dog! Happy Dog is a neighborhood bar that has long been known for its crazy long list of toppings that you can add to your hot dog, ranging from french brie and bacon to fruit loops and kimchi ketchum. The bar is also known for live music and their unique character.
Happy Dog has been a staple in the Gordon Square / Detroit Shoreway neighborhood for years. They expanded to a second location, called "Happy Dog at the Euclid Tavern," on the East side two years ago. The Euclid Tavern was one of Cleveland's oldest bars (est. 1909), and like Happy Dog, was known for their live music and neighborhood bar vibe. Fun fact-- our bartender, Adam, let us know that Green Day played there years ago! When the bar's closure was announced in 2013, loyal patrons and live music enthusiasts were saddened. Fortunately, University Circle Inc. snagged the real estate and invited Happy Dog to re-energize the tired establishment. Happy Dog cleaned things up and brought a fresh look to the bar while preserving the history and unique character of the Euclid Tavern. Today the marriage of Happy Dog and the Euclid Taverns seems to be a happy one indeed.
Happy Dog's menu is super small and huge at the same time. So long as you like hot dogs, you're good! You can add nearly anything you want to your hot dog-- just mark what you want on your menu form. I wound up topping my dog with macaroni-n-cheese, and bacon, and a side of tater tots. Want to see their list of toppings? Take a look at their menu!
While their food entree list is short, their beer list is not. You'll find dozens of choices on tap and in bottles.
